I think we can all agree that 2020 was unlike anything we’d ever experienced—a strange, trying, and unforgettable time. It was one of the first moments in my life when I thought, “Someday, I’ll probably be asked about this when I’m old.”

That thought sparked something in me. I wanted to document life during this time—not just my life, but the world around me. What was happening in politics, pop culture, and society? What stories were making headlines? And, most importantly, what shows were we bingeing to distract ourselves from it all?

And so, Cultural Cutouts was born. Using clippings from popular magazines like The New Yorker, Time, The Atlantic, Vanity Fair, and Rolling Stone, I’ve been creating monthly collages that capture the cultural pulse of that moment in time. Each cutout reflects the chaos, creativity, and collective mood of the month—because even when life felt overwhelming, art and media kept us tethered to something bigger.
